Object Lesson – Purpose Driven Golf Balls

It is an object lesson that uses a golfball to spread the gospel to children and to show them how God’s love can be shown to them. 1 John 4:17-11 is the Bible verse that supports this teaching.

Lesson:

(Show the ball. Why was the ball created? To be hit with golf clubs and thrown into a hole. Both you and I are made to serve a purpose. That purpose is to learn more about God and love him.

It was not an accident that this ball appeared. This ball was made with a lot of effort and study. It will fly far. You can’t see the core material, but it was carefully designed so that it would be able to travel long distances. To give the best golfer more control, some are made to spin more. Also, the material used for the cover must be perfect. The cover must be soft enough to withstand the impact of the clubs and have less friction. The ball’s dimples have all been carefully studied. These dimples have a purpose.

You and I didn’t happen by chance. God’s Word, Genesis 1, explains that he made us. We weren’t created by God to be something we could do, but he did so for a reason. He desires you to spend time with him and to learn how to love him.

A golf ball is made up of no waste material. Everything in a golf club has a purpose. It took hours of research and hard work to make this ball. All of it was made for one purpose: that golfers can hit the ball as far and as accurately as they can without the ball breaking. We were created for special purposes, and that is to get to know God and to learn how to love him. This purpose is fulfilled when you trust in Jesus Christ to save your sins. Share the gospel message.

You can only believe on Jesus once you’ve done that. To love God you must first get to know him. Spend time each day reading, praying, and studying the Bible. Let him become a part your daily life. God instructs us to love each other because God loves us. We should show his love to other people because he has shown us how much he cares for us. Your love for God will grow if you show it to others. Showing God your love will only be possible if you are truly in love with Him.
