To be successful at golf, this is vital. Professional golfers and you will not hit the ball perfect every time. Golf is all about misses. Golfers who can handle their missed shots the most effectively will score the highest scores.
Each body is unique and has its own shot shape. You will soon be able to draw or fade powerfully by applying these techniques.
You will see that this fade I’m talking about is not the same one you just hit. Instead, it will turn into something powerful (or Draw, if necessary) that moves only 10 yards left and launches strong.
You have distinct benefits to hitting a draw vs. a fade. So even after you learn how to hit the draw you can choose to keep your fade and not that wicked slice you just hit. This is how it works:
It is generally easier to manage a fade, because it launches higher and has more backspin. This combination means that when it lands, it will usually stay at the same spot.
On the other hand, a draw will typically launch lower and have more spin. It will also run out faster when it lands.
You may struggle to hit the ball 200 to 250 yards using your driver. I suggest fully developing and implementing a draw shot as your primary shot shape. It is important to get all you can and your missed shots will be less severe than if someone hits the ball 300 times.
For example, Phil and Tiger both benefit from fade shots more than Phil because they can get really bad results if they’re off even slightly with their draw.
However, you must make the effort to play these types of shots. It’s the worst feeling you can have in golf when your ball goes in any direction you want.
You must decide to play either a draw, or a fade. This does not mean that you should do it on every shot. You don’t have to understand how the ball works to break 80. You don’t need to know how to hit the ball. You must choose a shot style that feels natural and you practice it on the range.
