Visualization and the Power of Visualization: Can You Visualize Yourself as a Great Golfer?

Life is a series of events that we either become or cease to be. “live into”The future we envision for ourselves. Golf is no different. We have an inclination to make the past better. Positive visualization is key to our golf success. The body reacts more to visuals than to words.

As an example, picture yourself standing on the fairway and seeing out of bounds. You will always get the shot that you fear if you focus more on the ball not being hit out of bounds than your target. It causes your body to attempt to steer it away from danger. This can lead to a poor swing that leads to the ball heading exactly where you don’t want.

This is where we need to be able to transform negative images into positive. It is important to keep your eyes on the target and choose the shot shape you want.

Good practice with visualization and feel exercises, which you will find in my Audio Teaching the Golf State of Mind, can help you to get rid of negative thinking and bring your body into alignment with a positive goal.

Stress Free Golf Swing

When you are driving, use your imagination to visualize shots and think about what they might look like. Establish a habit of hitting all possible shots, including draws, fades, low- and high shots. It will increase awareness of those shots and help you to visualise shots well before hitting them.

Your mindset is the first step to better golf. You are the only one holding you back. I believe that regardless of your handicap, it is possible to be completely immersed in every shot. This will allow you to live your life as a good golfer.
