Minnesota Golf Courses- Mille Lacs Golf Resort, and Marina

Take a survey of Minnesotans to find out their favorite vacation areas. Mille Lacs Lake is likely to be among those in the top five. Nearly every Minnesotan has taken a Mille Lacs trip. Everybody makes a trip to Mille Lacs, whether they are attending the Minnesota State Fair and/or going on field trips to see the State Capitol.

The golf course, which has been around since 1964, is situated just off U.S. Highway 169. It’s a short drive of only 90 minutes north of the Twin Cities. The course has seen some improvements over the years, and there will more in the coming months and years. Mille Lacs Golf Resort & Marina, featuring Hardwoods Golf Club. The future plans include the construction of a log-designed clubhouse and restaurant as well as a 35,000 sq. ft. indoor water park. There will also be a day spa and 120 condo buildings. Many other amenities are planned. You can also rent or purchase single-family houses and townhouses with log design.

Hardwoods Golf Club will see some improvements in the near future. Plans are in the works to extend the 6,309-yard course by increasing the length of a few tee boxes as well as converting one par-4 hole into a short par-5, making it a course of par-72. Some strategically placed bunkers are also on the horizon. Hardwoods Golf Club currently plays to par-71. It has a course rating (69.7) and slope index (119). You shouldn’t let your security fool you by looking at the scorecard yardage and believing that it can be overpowered. You can still score high if your ball-striking skills are good and you’re a decent putter. But letting your guard down on this course could mean you miss out on a great opportunity to play. The greens at Hardwoods Golf Club are all small and elevated, with enough undulation for you to stay on top of your game. Hardwoods Golf Club greens have been called Pinehurst-like. I agree.
