What does Vancouver Island’s grizzly bears have in common with earthquakes and Vancouver Island Golf? It’s all in the name. “duck and cover strategy”That’s it! The latest technology allows even beginners to golf to get the ball further. The problem is that if you are just a few degrees off the course and hit it far enough, you can get really off-course, prompting more harsh bellows. “Fore!”
Vancouver Island is a golf mecca. You can imagine that there are many courses for all levels on the beautiful island of Vancouver Island, which is 500km (300 miles) in length. You can play any level of golf, no matter your ability.
Bear Mountain is home to no bears, but there are plenty of deer. Optional bonus: The 19th hole hangs from a cliff and offers a stunning view of Greater Victoria. Bear Mountain is located on Victoria’s western border and one of the most beautiful courses.
The green fee includes the use of fully-equipped golf carts with GPS. If you get too close to the green the cart will shut down, and it will display a message on the screen telling you to move back! On the 8th hole, you will see a prompt reminding you that food can be ordered to be delivered at the end on the 9th hole. It’s quite impressive, isn’t it? The tees come in four different sets. They are well-matched for both beginners and more experienced players.
Olympic View Golf Course is a course that features an elevated green and a backdrop of waterfalls. It’s also located on the west side of Victoria. There are nightmares on the 12th hole. A precise tee shot is required to reach a narrow fairway with a water hazard. The second shot will take you to an elevated green. It is only one of the many difficult holes. It is recommended to rent a cart for hills. Olympic View offers the most well-equipped practice area of any course in Vancouver Island.
Cordova Bay on Vancouver Island’s eastern shore is home to one of the best courses. With its well-kept greens, fairways, and breathtaking ocean views, Cordova Bay has it all. There are four sets available, so you can pick the one that suits you best.
Sometimes, you can find holes where you would like to have serious discussions with the course architect. For example, Crown Isle Golf Course was where I had 12 feet of frontage after hitting a perfect tee shot. My ball lost 18 inches from the hole, and then it did the impossible: It found a groove, and my ball rolled in a straight line to my putt. The putt was off the green within inches of the water hazards. The hole was only a few inches from where my chip hit the green. It rolled back right to me, yes! The fourth shot was too short so I put it in the distance. I tried to putt tentatively toward the hole, and towards the gap that eats balls. Naturally I tried light, and got six.
Crown Isle Resort offers some of the most luxurious facilities on the island. You will find it on resort courses near housing developments. It’s a magnificent clubhouse.
Vancouver Island is home to many excellent golf courses, such as Arbutus Ridge (Morning Star), Bear Mountain and Pheasant Glen.
Picture a course that is almost entirely made up of Douglas Fir. Storey Creek is an example of this. Each hole offers a different challenge with water hazards, narrow fairways and strategically placed sand traps. Storey Creek can be found just south from Campbell River, if you find the proximity to housing development irritating.
Mount Arrowsmith is the backdrop to this executive-length course. It features well-maintained fairways and greens, as well as well-manicured fairways.
Easy-access is made possible by an automated phone booking system. Just 10 minutes from Qualicum Beach, you will find yourself playing the most beautiful executive course on the Island. There is one hole on the course that’s par 5. The rest of them are par 3 or 4.
Vancouver Island boasts 60 different golf courses, each with something to offer everyone. You can find a brief summary at:
