To talk about this portion of the swing, let me say that it is about the backswing which runs parallel to ground and reaches the top.
Momentum
The momentum is what makes this part of the swing possible. My belief is that your body will be in the best position to reach the top so you can strike the ball down consistently. There are parts to this sequence that you still need to learn, study, and practice.
You shouldn’t start presetting anything for swings discussed here. The momentum, and not conscious effort is what I believe cocks the wrists as they go back. My practice sessions were ruined many times trying to raise my wrists and strike down at the ball.
Momentus
The momentus swing trainer is highly recommended, especially if it’s a more recent version. This version’s grip for training is terrible. Because it accelerates the process of instilling correct movements, the momentus is one the most effective training tools.
Momentum begins to pull the wrists back when the club moves beyond parallel. Lesson #10 showed you how simple it was to achieve the backswing position. Sevam1 explained it in his video on pronation. Click here to see it. It is an excellent drill for the backswing. However, my understanding of how the hands should be on the club was always a problem.
The Right Hand
The backswing can be accomplished by taking the club and sticking it in front of you. Understanding that both of your hands should be cocking the club straight up is key. Even though the hands of both the players are working together as one, the power of each player should feel in the right hand. The hands are working together. However, when it comes to how the top should feel, it is as though all power should reside in my right side.
Maintain that tension
You should make sure your right arm doesn’t slip back under your body. This is dangerous, and I have already mentioned it in the post. Tension builds up and helps you apply power later. However, it also aids you in keeping your arms straight in front of your chest. You should not push it towards your chest. It will separate once you get there. Just don’t let it get behind you.
Correct grip is crucial at the top of your swing. You will feel like your grip is helping the club back. Your left hand may be slightly cupped. Some people place their left hand slightly flattened at the top. However, for reasons that I’ll discuss, I don’t force my right wrist to be flat.
The left arm
Throughout the backswing, the left arm should remain straight. The golf swing, which is an athletic motion, requires flexibility and some give from the left arm. We are using the left arm to create the swing. “rolled”A bit is discussed in Pronation Video. The arm should be crossed across the chest so that it matches the angle of your chest. This is crucial. Teachers recommend that you extend your hands up and then drop them down. This is my preferred method because it’s simpler, easier to repeat, and less time-consuming.
Distribution of Weight
It is difficult to talk about your weight. Many people would disagree. “at this point, your weight should be 60-80% on your right.”It may not be the truth, however it does mean that your weight has begun to move left.
That means, if you’re throwing a ball, such as a football or baseball, that you place your foot on the right side of your left hand (for right handeders). Simply place the ball onto your right foot and you will start throwing it back. What is the weight of your right side? The answer is obvious. It depends on how long you throw. Golf is as fast as any other sport. It’s just that most people don’t think so. Your golf swing will evolve into an athletic movement, and not one that is static.
We will use 60-70% as an argument. In the following lessons it is very important that you put your right foot on the ground. This was the key. The true ending of the backswing was the beginning of the decline. These two are one-in-the same and can be combined.
Additional Logistics
1. The position of your right knee at address should remain the same.
2. The ball should be pointing in the direction of your left knee. There are some that restrict left-knee movement. It can go as far as it wishes. It shouldn’t go out straight away or get closer to the ground. Ensure that your head is not higher than the ground during the backswing.
3. The buckle of your belt should point towards your right toes. Your shoulders should rotate approximately twice as fast, so you can rotate 90 degrees.
4. You should never change your spine angle. You may have a problem with your setup. Your lower support allows for your spine to be supported throughout the swing. For more information, see the set-up tutorials.
