Part 2 of A Guide to Ski Machines

The process of building ski machines is very simple. They are obviously ski-like, but they don’t have any skis. The boards are made to look like skis. They move up and down on rollers. This is where we reach a turning point in the design of ski machines. Dependent skiing machines have two boards connected together. This means when one board is pushed forward, the other will be pushed back. It is easy to learn how the machine works, but it does not provide a lot of exercise.

Independent ski machines have no ski boards linked, so cross-country skiing is much more possible. Although they are more difficult to learn, independent machines can be a great way to get a better workout.

A rope and pulley system are used to create the motion of poling, which moves the upper body. These are great for recreating cross country skiing’s arm action. Ski machines of high quality will let you work on both your upper and low body, allowing for total body training. These machines aren’t the most user-friendly, so practice is key to getting your balance and coordination right.

Start by only working your legs. After you are comfortable with the foundation motion, you can start adding arm motion to your routines. Learning how to use the machine properly and finding the correct coordination is key.
