Teach Your Children Golf: Start by Building Passion

Be sure to remember these important points before teaching kids golf. You can teach golf to your kids for the rest of their lives. Make it enjoyable and teach them a love of the game. The second is that golf requires a lot of skill. My goal is to make sure the children have fun and develop passion. I also teach basic skills one at a time.

Passion Development

My kids have learned that it is important to be brief and let them enjoy the experience. Too many parents drag out trips to the golf range and driving range for too long. It’s just plain boring. “this is worse than shopping” attitude developing. It is important to watch and see if your child is interested. You might limit your trips to 15-20 minutes. They may only hit a handful of balls, and then you can get a drink or snack at the clubhouse.

Surprisingly, my children enjoyed other parts of the experience before they started playing golf. My daughter loved the ball machine on one of her trips. My son loved getting Sprites after hitting some balls. My son liked the fact that I offered him the entire bottle, not just one. They grew to love riding on the golf cart, and I was happy that they could do it.

Stress Free Golf Swing

This was all about making sure that they have a positive experience. The trips grow longer over time and the kids start to play more golf. Once this happens, you can focus on the basics. You can also help the kids learn some of the good etiquette they have learned throughout the years.
