Avril lavigne is Canadian Pop Rock’s lead singer with Girlfriend on her third album The Best Damn Thing. Lukasz Gottwald produced it. It has been the most popular of Lavigne songs, reaching the top spot in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It reached number 2 in the United Kingdom, and number 1 for six weeks in Australia.
Lavigne sings about his crush on the boy who currently has a girl. The song has a pop-punk sound and is reminiscent of Lavigne’s older songs. It was so successful that it was translated into seven languages: French, German German Italian Japanese Mandarin Portuguese Spanish and Spanish. You can see it in Burnout Paradise and Burnout Dominator. Girlfriend was also featured in trailers for live action Bratz films, I Now Prophesize You Chuck and Larry, as well as Bring It On: It to Win It.
The Malloys directed the music video for Girlfriend. It was shot in Norwalk (California) at Golf ‘n Stuff. Lavigne is portrayed by two different girls. One, a girl who has glasses and red hair and the other, a girl with dark hair and evil eyes. American Model Bryan McMullin plays the black-haired boy and tries to win over the girl with red hair. The red-haired boy is captivated when she hits her with a ball of golf, hitting the girl in the face.
The Rubinoos brought a lawsuit against Lavigne claiming that Lavigne had copied their 1979 hit. “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend”. Jan 2008: The suit was settled. It was determined that there were similarities in the lyrics between them. “certain common and widely used lyrics”They “completely exonerate Avril and Luke from any wrongdoing of any kind in connection with the claims made [in the] lawsuit.”
Lavigne shared this information with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette regarding the Girlfriend lawsuit. “You have to understand this kind of stuff happens to people all the time, especially when they have a big hit song. And it’s happened to me before with other songs; it just wasn’t made public. That’s what people do, it’s like whatever, it’s not a big deal. Everyone made it into a big deal because it went public. It was never a big deal for me.”
