What do you know about the Origin of Basketball Basketball?

Are you familiar with the history of basketball?

One gentleman named Dr. James Naismith is the one who gave birth to basketball. Naismith, a Canadian citizen, was born in Almonte on the Ontario coast, Canada, 1861. Naismith used to play duck on the rock, where he would attempt to remove the duck from the top of the stone with the help of another rock.

Naismith went on to McGill University, Montreal. He would eventually become McGill University’s Athletic Director. Later, he would move to the YMCA Training School, Springfield, Massachusetts, where the sport of basketball was born in 1891.

Naismith had to look for a winter sport that could be enjoyed indoors because of the freezing temperatures in Massachusetts. For the goals, Naismith used two soccer balls and peach baskets.

Naismith was also a Presbyterian minister and medical doctor who specialized in sports physiology. Naismith saw his favorite sport, basketball, become accepted in many countries thanks to the YMCA. Basketball was also introduced at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The game of basketball is now a highly popular professional sport.
