Camber can get crowded on sunny weekends in the summer. There is often a long line for entry to Camber. The peak times for traffic are around 10:00 – if you get there before that time, you shouldn’t have any problems.
Rother Council established dog zones at Camber Beach for those who travel there in summer, which is the end of September. The beaches stretch out for miles after the tide has gone. There is still plenty of space, as there are at least 500m of sand dunes inland and at least one mile along the coast.
All dogs must be kept on a leash when the “dog zone” instructions were implemented. For six weeks, this was enforced by dog guardians (or summervacating students without spots) who kept the dogs on a lead. This has now been relaxed. You shouldn’t be concerned as long as your walkers stay in designated areas and are responsible.
Your default direction will be West. However, if you are able to walk towards Rye Harbour entrance (end of beach), then turn left along the River towards Harbour Masters. You can also book a hotel room in the Rye Bay or Camber Sands area for a night.
