We still love our cars, even though gas prices are at an all-time high. They represent freedom, even if they only drive 10 miles between our homes and work!They project a positive image (Corvettes as a mid-life crisis? The fact they can get you from Point A/B in no time adds to your wonderful relationship with your car. As life is an imitation of the art in this column, I am car shopping! Let’s see how Feng Shui could help us pick the ideal car.
***When looking at purchasing a new vehicle-how does it make you feel? It doesn’t matter if the color or whether it is a sedan, you are going to hate driving that car. Feng Shui and energy are not good. ***

Feng Shui is a way to improve your driving experience by treating your car as if it were a mood-altering environment.
You get tired just as soon as the roads start? To ease your fatigue, tie a red tassel and attach bells to it. Remember, RED represents action and yang energies. Your focus and alertness will be maintained by the ringing bells. Positive energy can be warded off with the soothing sound of bells or chimes. My car has a tiny Fairy chime that I attach to my rearview mirror. “perturbed”I ring the bell when I am on the road, or looking for the ideal parking spot. I’m stupid. However, it is a funny thing that makes me smile (and other passengers in my car) and raises the positive vibe in the car.
To much clutter Too many McDonald’s stops and Starbucks stopovers, leaving evidence in the backseat. You can find sporting equipment scattered throughout your trunk and backseat. Do you feel like the passenger seat looks more like a work space than a home office? Is it possible to not see the rear view from the rear window because of the stuffed animals that have taken up residence on the back shelf? Although clutter will be covered in subsequent columns, Feng Shui refers to clutter as the tangible manifestation of our emotional baggage. Your vehicle, your home, office, or desk is cluttered with empty fast food bags and empty ashtrays. This shows the world you don’t care what you look like, nor how well you appear to others. In some cases, you may subconsciously feel less worthy and confident. You may feel like you are a garbage.
Many people travel to work, but don’t own a car that is exclusively used for work. It is important to keep your work from distracting you. It is a good idea to keep files organized in a bag or binder so that everything can be found easily. I can see why the iPod would be useful (! So that’s a possibility. You should never consider your Blackberry, or any other phone as an addition to your vehicle. For safety reasons, use Blue-tooth Technology or OnStar phone service if the Blackberry is required to be used while you drive.
***You should NEVER be texting, IMing or checking emails WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING for safety reasons. ***
You should clean your vehicle on a monthly basis. You should vacuum, clean and condition the leather seats. If you have a convertible, this is an absolute must. Clear out the junk in the back seat and empty the ashtrays. Then, organize the things that must remain in the car. Before we purchased a organizer for golf, my mother’s car was a closet/sporting goods shop. There were shoes, socks, golf shirts and socks all over her car. Her car was a mess with her coupon strewn all over it, and her sunglasses in one hand. This organizer made it easy for her to organize all her accessories, including tees and clothes. They could also fit in the trunk together with the golf clubs. This freed up space in the backseat. It’s still not possible for me to make her happy. “free up”The cup holders-although my daughter doesn’t have the same venti latte addiction as I do, this isn’t really that crucial to her. But I am still trying to get better at it. Safety is another reason to clean your car’s windows. It helps you see what’s ahead, especially in the dark or when it’s raining. Feng Shui believes that clean windows/glass symbolizes clear vision towards your future goals and/or objectives. Natural light can also be allowed into your space, bringing positive energy.
***Make a point of cleaning your windows with every gas fill-up! Windows are an important part of the home. “eyes”Eyes should not be blurred in the house/car/office. ***
The journey will be easier if the car is pleasant to smell. After you have done a good job cleaning the car, you shouldn’t be able to smell anything. Aromatherapy allows you to manipulate emotions and make your vehicle more pleasant. Are you ready for a long trip? To help you feel more energized, use peppermint. You can feel more relaxed, less anxious and calmer during your commute. Orange can help you relax and de-stress. There are many car diffusers available. Some can plug into your cigarette lighter and others simply have terracotta shapes you can hang on your rearview. My rearview mirror has a tiny terracotta heart that hangs along with my fairy chime. Dependent on the mood, I may use a few different scents. Terra cotta diffusers work well in warmer climates. The sun’s rays help to diffuse oil/scents throughout the vehicle. This diffuser is amazing!
You may have heard that crystals can be used to bring positive energy into your vehicle. Static energy can be dispersed and broken down by crystals. Keep your crystals clear! It’s also great. However, do not place a crystal that is more than 10mm away from your rearview mirror. Any larger than that will make your car look like it is swinging around in the sunlight, making drivers all around you blind. It isn’t good Feng Shui.
***When purchasing crystals for your car or elsewhere in your space, only buy real crystal spheres, points…whatever shape. The energy of real crystal is not transmitted by glass, plastic and other materials. Be sure to verify all material before you make a purchase. ***

As in all your areas, keep your car clean to promote good energy and healthy movement.
It is important to not clutter your car’s back with stuff like stuffed animals or clothes. It doesn’t matter if you hate it or need it.
Feng Shui experts will advise you to put fluffy blankets and/or cushions in your vehicle to balance out the yang energy. This can help to create a calm, soothing energy. Personally, I am an advocate for a “less is more”You are this type of person? “accessorize”If you have some decorative pillows for your vehicle, consider adding them to your drive. You should note that blankets are essential for dogs who travel with you or for emergencies in colder areas.
You should remove any items that hang from the rearview reflector. Anything that could cause you to have a bad driving experience (or make others afraid), should be removed. If an item is thrown off according to Feng Shui, this means that it protects you against negative energy. Replace it as soon as possible.
You can use music to set the mood. Some songs are great for relaxing on long trips, others for commutes, and some for dinner. Jimmy Buffet is my favorite music. It transports me away from the snow and cold of WI and makes me feel like I am on a sunny, warm beach. For your commute, turn off the NAS music.
Margo Trofimenkoff from Calgary, an interior designer and author says you can determine which gender your car is by its gas cap. If the gas cap is to the right, it means that your car is feminine. On the other hand, the gas cap on the left indicates masculine.
– Name your car. (See previous). A personal relationship with your vehicle will make it more likely that you take good care of it, clean it up, and maintain it in an efficient manner. My car’s name was Tiffany, based on its color-sterling sterling silver.
– Keep your car in good working order. Keep your car in good condition by getting regular oil changes. Replace burned-out lights. Also, make sure to keep the windshield washer fluid topped off (it tends to run dry right after a storm).These are the instructions.
As in all spaces, make sure that doors and windows open and close smoothly and quietly. Tension will build up at the beginning of any journey if there is sticking or trouble. The stress of a door not closing properly can lead to damage or cracking.
Parking should be done in a way that permits easy access. It should also be noted that you should never park facing a house/office/building as it can subconsciously create a threat to the occupants in the building-a feeling of the car driving into the space. Park parallel to the space or away.
The interior of your car is important. This is because it is what will most affect you when driving. Stress will result if your car’s interior is unhappy.
