Two championship golf courses are available at Palmas del Mar Resort. Both offer panoramic views of Caribbean Sea. Reese Jones is a well-known golf course architect. The Flamboyan Course was opened in 1998 and measures 7,117 yards. This layout has been deemed the most beautiful and best-rated in Puerto Rico.
You will find a variety of challenging, memorable holes throughout the course. You can find fairways on the course alongside a freshwater lake of 20 acres. Some are bordered by the Caribbean Sea and others run parallel to the Candelero River. Flamboyan Golf Course’s 12th Hole is a long par 3, and requires skillful play to reach the raised green. It is hidden behind a canal that features the incredible backdrop of Vieques Island.
Flamboyan is considered to be the Caribbean’s most challenging and longest golf course. This course was awarded the Barron’s Magazine Best Course Award and the Golf Digest Best Golf Course Award.
The Palm, which was opened in 1974 by Gary Player (a champion golfer), is smaller than the Flamboyan course. It features fairways lined with trees and undulated greens. The sand traps as well as tropical roughs and strategically placed bunkers make the course challenging. Palm Golf Course requires a high level of accuracy, something that can be difficult for even experienced golfers.
You can enjoy unobstructed views from the Caribbean Sea at holes 14 and 16, giving you the chance to see the natural wonders that are the Palm Golf Course. Apart from the two championship golf courses, Palmas del Mar also offers two practice greens and two double-ended driving ranges. Two golf pros oversee the practice clinics.
The clubhouse is spread over an impressive 40,000 sq. ft. It offers recreation as well as resort. The clubhouse has lockers for gentlemen and ladies, as well as separate lockers for guests staying at resort. There is also a locker room for women and men, and a locker area for bag storage.
You can’t miss the Palmas del Mar resort if you are looking for the best and most memorable experience in golf or a day of relaxation among stunning landscapes.
