DeKalb County in Georgia is located on the east side of metro Atlanta and has some of the most prestigious golf courses. Stone Mountain Park is home to two of the top choices. A semi-private golf course is also available in Tucker, Georgia. Two municipal golf courses are located in DeKalb County, which is very popular amongst golfers.
Stone Mountain Golf Club, located in Stone Mountain Park, is one of Atlanta’s top family attractions. Two championship 18-hole golf courses are available, Stonemont and Lakemont. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed Stonemont. This challenging, classic course has been consistently rated 4 stars by Golf Digest. You will find Bermuda fairways, Bentgrass greens and a gentle rolling course. It plays over 6,863 yards and is par 70/71. Lakemont’s par 71 course measures 6,444 yards and is slightly less challenging. You will have beautiful views over Stone Mountain Lake as well the Confederate Memorial carvings. Some holes feature water. Stone Mountain Golf Club also offers a full-service restaurant as well as a pro shop. On weekdays, green fees for the season (Mar.-Nov.), are $45 and on weekends they’re $59 The off season rates (Dec. 1, Jan. and February) cost $39 per weekday and $49 for weekends. Evening rates are cheaper. Stone Mountain Park requires a $10 parking charge.
Heritage Golf Links (formerly Celebrity Golf Club International) is a semi private golf club, located at 4445 Britt Rd in Tucker, Georgia. There are 27 holes of play and a lighted driving area. It is a rolling course with several holes that border a large lake. Bentgrass is used for the greens. The clubhouse has a snack bar and a pro shop. From March to November, green fees run at $55 per week on Monday through Thursday. The Sunday, Friday and Saturday rates are $65. December-February rates start at $45 Monday-Thursday, $55 Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and $50 on Sunday. There are nine hole rates available.
Two public golf courses are owned by DeKalb County Parks and Recreation. Every course features Bentgrass greens, full-service practice facilities, including a driving range and putting area, as well as a practice bunker. You will also find a full-service clubhouse, lockers and a pro shop. Both golf courses allow walking. Mystery Valley Golf Club, 6094 Shadowrock Drive is in Lithonia. Some large tournaments have been held at this popular, near Stone Mountain, course. This 18-hole par 72 golf course measures 6,700 meters and is gentle rolling. On weekdays, green fees cost $38, while weekends and holidays are $45 Carts cost $13. Seniors and juniors get discounts Sugar Creek Golf Club can be found at 2706 Bouldercrest Road. It measures 6,318 yards. On weekdays, green fees cost $23 and on weekends $29 respectively. Carts cost $13. Sugar Creek has a great tennis court.
