This is how I will show you how to be a better putter. You may wonder how this is going to help me save money.
Well, if you are a better putter, you won’t lose as many bets with your golfing buddies and you will be less likely to want to go out and buy a new one every year or every few months. Makes sense doesn’t it?
So how can you improve your puttering skills? As with most things in life, it’s really quite simple, it won’t take a lot of your time and I can virtually guarantee if you do this, you will be a better putter.
So, let’s get on with it already. Now let’s get to the point. Let me give you a glimpse of how your game might look and what this tiny technique can do for you. So, if you are a mid to high handicapper, you usually don’t hit that many greens in regulation and often times when you do, you are a long way from the pin, am I right? So, that puts a fair amount of pressure on your putter and you have to avoid the three putts at all costs to lower your score and avoid shooting in the 90’s.
It is simple, but makes sense. You will need 5 golf balls to get you to the putting course. Instead of trying to put the ball in a straight line, aim for the five balls at a distance of about 5 feet. Practice putting 5 balls at a time from 5 feet. You can do this from any angle. This will maximize your success. You can practice the putts 20 times during a practice session. You should keep track of the number of times that you putt the ball with each of the five balls. Then, you will be able to count the putts and try to get as many as possible within the time limit. Keep track of the number of putts you make by simply taking a piece paper along.
Now, you might wonder how this can help you. Now think about this. What percentage of the three putts you have made are within five feet? Most of them, I’d be willing to wager. What you did was increase your range and confidence in putting by doing 100 five-foot putts. Instead of feeling under pressure as you try to make it closer, you now feel more relaxed. “gimme”You’ll feel confident knowing that you are able to make your next putt, no matter how short or long it is. You will see improvement in your ability to do the drill over time if you keep track of the results.
So now when you walk on to a green, you aren’t thinking about I have to get this close so I don’t three putt, you are now walking on to the green saying I can knock this within 5 feet of the hole and still walk away with a 2 putt and worse case scenario a bogey. Do this 5 to 7 times in a round and now you are in the mid 80’s pretty easily.
This is it. If you follow this easy drill, you can be sure to shoot higher scores in just days. It shouldn’t take more than 30 to 45 minutes each time you do it. This drill is better than hitting the balls at the range. Does your swing really change? You are still hitting the ball the exact same distance and in the same direction as you have always. Save your strokes at the putting course and you will feel less fatigue when you return home.
This information should help improve your game, make you more enjoyable and even earn more money.
