Each golfer at every level needs a swing idea! “Don’t think”Swing thinking is an example of a swing idea. Most golfers have terrible thoughts in their heads. “Don’t hit it in the water.” “Keep your head down.”What about? “Don’t shank it!”This is a recipe for disaster! We have found that swing mechanics are not the key to the greatest swing thoughts.
They encourage mechanics. How do you define that? It should be “keep your head down”According to Nick Faldo, he attempted to “watch it”. He had a “witness to the strike”. He was able to focus on his shot, which included the distance and trajectory as well as the conditions. This simple thought helped him stay centered, balanced, and focused.
Here are some additional golf swing ideas that we hope you will find helpful.
1. It’s like a bird in your hand! Sam Snead described proper grip pressure once as feeling like you hold a bird in each hand. It should be held loosely enough not to hurt the bird, but firm enough not to let it go.
His understanding of tension was crucial to a good golf swing. It isn’t enough to think about light grip pressure. It is possible to hold the thing too loosely. An analogy of a bird is a good frame of reference. The golfer should have thought “bird in the hands”Before every shot, your average score in golf would drop!
2. Driving a Nail in the Back of the Ball – This simple picture of a nail protruding from the back of a ball is great for playing golf. You can think of driving the nail through your ball. This promotes an inner hit and helps fight that feared over-the top move that is so fatal to many golf swings.
3. Slow at the Top of The Swing. Some prefer to imagine a pause, but it doesn’t always work. You can stop, and then you can continue.
You can grab the club by tightening your muscles and making an extravagant move. Slow is better.
OR, SLOW TRANSITION. Your downswing should start slowly and then pick up speed.
This way you will be able to swing more quickly at the moment when it is your turn. Swing the club around slowly, feeling an effortless transition. You will feel faster after about 10 swings. It will be amazing how fast you can increase your clubhead speed!
