There is a lot of scientific evidence that suggests you can have long- and short-term memory, and human performance in your daily life. This has been confirmed by the scientific community.
This is what matters for you and your game. Long term memory clearly has many benefits. After all, where would you be if you couldn’t remember who your best half was? Even though I think most golfers would do better if they could forget about their worst shots, this is just long-term memory loss. Long term memory in golf is what we coaches do. We work with you to improve your play, thoughts processes, and bio-mechanics, so that you enjoy long term benefits.
We are most concerned about the short-term memory because understanding this will help you to make more swings. Your brain may hold an 8 second kinaesthetic feeling (feeling), before rapidly diminishing. According to one source, it decreases by 30% every eight seconds. It is crucial because you practice swinging and you’re attempting to imagine the exact move you wish your body to perform to deliver the ball to the target.
This is a great way to practice your swings. “feel”The shots you take aren’t going to be retained in long-term memory. Once you make a few swings, get the shot. “feel”You must then take the shot and let your mind swing for the remaining 8 seconds.
It is possible to watch golfers practice a few swings and track how long they take from their first practice feeling until hitting the ball. The 8th rule is three to four times slower than it takes to make the actual swing. They believe that practice swings are almost meaningless, and have very little to no benefit.
Keep in mind that your short-term memory declines approximately 30% every 8 second. This means that if it takes 24 seconds for you to swing the trigger and hit the ball with your actual hand, then there is virtually no residual programming. To be precise, this time is not measured to the moment you hit the ball. You won’t be able to finish the task in eight seconds, then sit there and think about it for a further ten seconds.
Let me end by pointing out that the Professional Swing Sequence should have a transition time of 8 seconds from your last practice swing. It should also be smooth and not rush. You will be rushing to get the shot done before the 8 second limit. To ensure your setup flows smoothly and you can complete it in the right time, groove it into the ball.
