Sweet Hampers: The Sweets People Choose Most

While there are many accounts and surveys that detail the most popular sweets in sweet hampers, very few reports or studies reveal the preferences of people for the sweets they don’t like. So I wanted to find the opposite side of the story, so I asked people of different backgrounds about their favorite sweets. People were asked in places such as subways, schools, grocery stores, at the supermarkets and customers inside and outside a candy shop. You can find the complete list of information I collected by posting polls or surveys on different forums and discussion boards.

Two days of asking people about their favorite sweets from sweet hampers took me hours. Out of all the people that I interviewed, two sweets were most popular: Toasted Coconut Teacakes (or Sour Apple Belts). These sweets don’t fit their tastes. Most agreed they did not like the taste of coconut in the toasted teacakes. They would rather have something citrusy. They found the Sour apple belts taste strange and they also disliked them.

My time is spent in school, so I had plenty of time to inquire about teachers and students’ favorite sweets in sweet hampers. There has been mixed agreement in my school. While I did find the information necessary to determine which sweets are most popular, these numbers don’t necessarily prove anything. Barratts Shrimps and Liquorice Comfits are not favorites of students and teachers at school. It could be due to the fact that this is a matter of time. Children today aren’t familiar with these traditional sweets. Most of their preferences tend to be for the most modern products.

My personal opinion is that customers and buyers provide the best information sources. In order to find out the truth and get the opposite side of my story, I visited different supermarkets and grocery stores to inquire about people’s least favorite sweets. Notably, most mothers I found information about are in their 20s.

My questions to buyers and consumers revealed that golf ball bubblegum is a favorite and Gobstoppers sweet hampers are a dislike. These sweets are no longer appealing to them as they are not what they used to be when they were young and they are looking for alternatives.
