The hardest thing about internet marketing is deciding what niche market to target.
It was hard for me to pick just one niche market when I first started out.
With this in mind, let’s take a look at the different niche markets you can choose from.
1. Consider traditional niche markets
There are three major categories of niche markets that have traditional appeal.
• Health and Fitness
• Wealth Creation
• Lifestyle
These markets have been around for longer than the internet and they will continue to be popular. They have been around since the dawn of marketing.
One example is that people want to be healthier.
You might be more interested the health and fitness aspect of the market. Many people are looking for quick ways to exercise at home. Many gym-goers want to gain weight and build muscle.
This brings me to the largest area of the health and fitness industry, which is weight loss. The global weight loss market is estimated to be worth £220 million with an estimated 29 million Brits attempting to lose weight last year alone and with obesity on the rise this market is only going to get bigger. There is always an opportunity for people to learn more about this topic.
The same goes for people who are looking for more income. Perhaps they’re looking to add to their savings or find something they enjoy as a hobby. You could find them dreaming of leaving the 9-5 and starting a new life. Wealth creation, like health and fitness has many possibilities.
People want to live a healthier lifestyle. There are many relaxation and meditation options, as well as the highly-popular relationship category. As you can see, there will be many people searching for answers in this market.
The markets that I have mentioned can be a great place to start for anyone who is thinking about internet marketing or if they are already in operation and want to expand their reach.
2. Solve peoples problems
Everyone who works in internet marketing has a lot of knowledge. You all have something that is important to you. This could be your hobby or knowledge. Or maybe it’s a profession that has given you insider tips and tricks. Use what you love or know to solve problems for others. You don’t need to know everything, but the internet makes it easy for you to find all of the information you require. You’re also helping somebody if your solution solves a problem. When you help someone else, you get paid for your efforts and time.
People all around the globe are searching for solutions to every problem they might have in any subject. Do you doubt me? You can Google “How do I get bread to rise”, and it returns more than 5.6 millions results. Try “How to improve my game of golf” for over 1.25million results. If you want something more specific, such as “How to stop my dog barking”, you will get 770,000 results. I want to emphasize that, regardless of your level of knowledge, someone is out there seeking solutions.
You can make a difference by helping people find answers in an easy-to-access way.
One of the easiest ways to do this is to produce an e-book and with websites such as Amazon kindle direct publishing; https://kdp.amazon.com it’s now easier than ever to get your e-book out into the market place. You can increase your book’s popularity by adding an audio- or video version.
You can find common issues in any niche if you do your research well. It is very easy to identify the problems that people face and solve them by going directly to the market. Online forums are a great place to start your search. You will see many people looking for solutions to a variety of issues. Yahoo Answers is another great place to find out about the problems of others. You can also survey others in the niche you choose.
You can use this method to identify the problems that people have and to help them find solutions. You just need to give it to them.
3. Do your research
It is important to research within the chosen niche. This is important as it gives you insight into the thoughts and desires of your chosen market. This will also help you determine if there is enough demand to justify your efforts in creating the products this market wants.
You can get direct feedback from the customers to find out what their problems are, how they have solved them, and which solutions worked. This will give you a greater understanding of what they want, and help you to tailor your solution.
You may already have a mailing list. Send them an email and ask for their opinion.
One great way to find a niche market is to use the Google Keyword Tool https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal You can see how many people are searching for a specific word or phrase, this is an invaluable tool to ascertain if there is a demand for the niche you are considering. A niche market may be found if it has 10,000 or more searches per month and there is little to no competition.
4. Keep searching
Internet marketers must be constantly looking for new ways to make money. Even though you’ve had success with a particular niche, it doesn’t mean that you should give up. Once you’ve created a product that works, you can sell more. Keep going until you have at least 4 to 5 products making money.
You must maintain a good relationship with current buyers. Make sure to send emails every month. Selling to an existing customer is more cost-effective than selling to someone new.
There are many places you could find inspiration to create new niche markets. Go to your local bookstore and browse the magazines. You will likely find enough people interested in the subject matter to make it a profitable niche market.
You can find inspiration, as I said earlier.
5. Go deeper
This is simply a way to find more niches within your chosen market. If your niche is beauty, then you might be interested in hair and nails or looking younger, as well as the makeup niche.
Take the makeup niche, for example. You can reduce it down to applying lipsticks, foundations that suit different skin types or eye make-up.
Consider that you want to produce products related to eye make-up. You can interview professionals in the field and record them to help you create your products.
It’s possible to get the best out of your niche by digging deeper. Being more specific can also open up many new avenues for growth. Experts are loved by people who want to learn and this will make you a better expert.
You can also think about what products and services your customers might be interested. If people already have bought products from you, suggest additional products or an upsell on another product.
Keep track of everything that works. If you don’t like something, take a look at what you can do to make it work again.
