An acquaintance offered me lunch at a local country club. As I entered the facility, I saw a sign near the large pond that looked like a small lake. “No Jet Skiing”Yes, indeed. I had a great time laughing about that and asked my friend over lunch. My acquaintance explained that there were a few yahoos out every year who would race across the water on their jet skis. It happens every year and nobody has said anything except for some older women who say it’s cruelty to animals because they terrorize the ducks at the golf course. This is what you would see if you were familiar with the area.
Sign was put up because someone crashed a jetski after getting up to speed. They tried to get it on the green while it was still wet. The couple did it a lot more times. They even put videos online, which I saw later because I thought they were funny. It was funny until I saw the final video which has over a million hits. The same was attempted by a girl on a 1200 CC jetski. She caught the edge of pond’s side and fell over, the jet ski flipping and launching her onto the grass at 25 miles per hour.
She was just lying there, not moving. Later she stumbled around and sat down, with her friends who were standing nearby. The ambulance transported her to the hospital for severe brain injuries. It’s a good thing she wasn’t able to break any more bones, or even commit suicide. The security staff at the club had to tell everyone not to use the jet skis in the pond. They also blamed the duck habitat and wetlands for the incident, which I found hilarious.
However, insurance from the country club will not cover jet skiing in their pond. Anyone who owns watercraft insurance should be aware that this insurance is null and unenforceable if they are not allowed to use their jet skis in any recreational areas. Also, the country club was not created for jet skiers. Anyone who attempts such foolish things should learn that even spring break is not the right time to do so. If you don’t have insurance, be cautious about who you allow on your jet ski. I sincerely hope you’ll take the time to read this information and reflect on it.
