For a brief moment, let’s go down memory lane. Harvey Penick: How many have you ever read it? “The Little Red Book”Or how many of you have ever read Ben Hogan? “Five Lessons The Modern Fundementals of Golf”What is the best way to get started?
These two books were the best golf swing instruction ever. These books are not for sale. However, you can find them at most book stores.
For golf instruction, these are some insights into what works.
This is an example showing how you can see the club head path to almost instantly get on the right plane.
Hogan talks in his book about how to swing under the plane. You can use the plane to swing under a piece of glass. It is made from a thin sheet of glass and has a hole so your head can fit through it. You can then reach the target line by extending the glass down. Once you have reached the target, one end of the glass will be on your shoulders while the other rests on top.
Based on your setup, this visual will show you which plane to choose. It is the spine angle that determines the swing plane angle.
You must now swing underneath the glass to ensure you don’t crack it.
This visual and simple thinking will help you to see the importance of a proper club head path.
A great tip is to position your right elbow in both the up- and downswing. When you backswing, your right elbow should be pointing exactly to the ground. This will place the right forearm parallel to the ground as well as at an angle to your bicep. The ground should not be in contact with your upper arm.
As you do this, you need to ensure you’re getting good shoulder rotation. If your arm is in the perfect place, but you don’t get a great shoulder turn, it won’t be helpful.
The downswing is now – literally, slam your right elbow into your right hip to begin the downswing. Do this fast and straight. You can either push your right hand with your left or pull the other. As you press your right arm into your right hip, your left leg will continue to move with your left hip. Harvey Penicks lateral move. ” Magic Moves”This will allow you to start your swing by moving the bump to the right.
It’s possible to do both. Use what you find most effective.
You will see a significant improvement in your swing plane and track if you practice it correctly. Your ball will be hit crisply and solidly if you are consistent.
