Perfection: The Delusion of Perfection

Perfection can be defined as a set of predetermined, all or nothing propositions. My experience working with more than eleven thousand students has shown that the vast majority believe perfect swing mechanics will result in perfect results. This belief is evident at any practice area around the globe.

It is important to have solid foundations. But, looking for weaknesses in your swing only reinforces the notion that it’s not possible to ignore them. This is a vicious cycle.

Perfection can be defined as either form, results, or both. Is there a professional golfer with a flawless swing? Although some swings may be more pleasing to the eye, function and form are often not related. Do you know any golfers who are able to hit the ball from a paper bag but have flawless form?

What is consistency? There are obvious swing weaknesses in the most consistent players. Bubba Watson has feet that move like they are on rollerblades.
