You’ve seen an iron robot perform a model swing of the golf course. It was called “Iron Byron”After the great golfer Byron Nelson, who died in the early 1920s. His golf swing was so perfect that a model was made of it. They used slow-motion pictures to take Byron’s swing apart and then recreate it using the same technique. “iron Byron”. Interesting results resulted. While the machine was able to reproduce the golf swing model time and time again, it did not always produce the same result. The team soon realized there were other factors that could be involved, which would require the brain to think about. For example, they needed to assess the conditions of fairways and determine if they were dry or wet.
While we may see the machine perform a golf swing, how do we achieve that consistency? Although we are not able to be an automated robot, we can still learn basic golf swing principles from robots. A golfer who changes his swing plan, speed or grip all the time is not going to be able to maintain consistency over 18 holes. This can lead him or her to lose four hours of playing well.
Spine
The ‘Iron Byron’ example would allow us to have a steady spine so that the golf swing can work. While the mechanical equipment cannot hold the human in place as well, it is possible to remember that the spine can be used as an axis so the body rotates around. Instead of dipping and swinging or creating new rotating planes, the fundamental positioning will still work. The Spine can move off of its normal plane, which is not only inconsistent but also causes a loss in consistency and mental energy. When the spine is steady, the focus can be on the ball or hand release. This is what the swing is all about.
The Hip Movement should be limited
You can limit your hip rotation by having a straight spine. Although hips can be used for dancing, tennis, and many other activities in golf swings they should not be rotated. The backswing is a swinging motion caused by the rotation of the hips. The spine should be straight and the hips will act like a spring. Power is stored in the hips and can then be transferred to the clubshead or to the ball. You can add control to your swing by having a shorter backswing that isn’t loopy, floppy, or too far past parallel.
You must remember that the most effective golf swing doesn’t have much movement. Pro golfers are well aware of this principle and have low scores. They can keep it simple and achieve consistent action. The model golf swing is based on less movement than more. Professional demonstrates the action. They demonstrate the technique. The results are amazing. You will find that you don’t get distracted easily when you use this type of golf swing consistently. This will help you to have calmness and confidence while other golfers struggle with power, body turn, and disappointing results.
