The Shacolas Emporium Park Shopping Centre has opened in Nicosia. There was Christmas shopping there when I went.
What is it capable of offering?
Two floors are available. The top floor houses a multiplex cinema that shows recent films. A variety of restaurants are available, including Chinese, Greek and Macdonalds. A few coffee shops are also available.
Few shops are located on the upper floors. Public (in the UK) is an equivalent shop to Borders. It is a huge shop that sells books, music, DVDs and the most recent computer games. The shop offers all music and books in English, as well the latest dvd films.
Other shops are located on the same floor but they tend to be accessory or clothing shops.
The lower floor contains Next, Debenhams (hypermarket), Zara, Zara Men’s Fashion, Zara Women’s Fashion, Carrefour (hypermarket), Zara Men’s Fashion), Intersport (a huge sports shop), The Early Learning Centre, and many other places.
Other Information
The new IKEA store is right next door to the shopping mall. The store opened in January. It is huge, just as in the UK. Telephone ordering is available in Cyprus, but only to the South. They send their catalogs to all homes in Cyprus. You can also telephone them to request that your items be shipped to you. The store is accessible by phone, so you don’t even need to be present.
Parking is available for up to 2500 cars free of charge. It’s easy to find a spot.
How to get there
Near the motorway is the shopping centre. Follow signs to Strovolos or The Cyprus Stock Exchange as they are right next to each other. It is easy to locate all signs in English. It is very easy to drive there, and traffic is almost non-existent on the motorway.
Your Holiday Representative can tell you if your company offers day trips to Nicosia if you’re on holiday in Cyprus. They may also include shopping trips.
Recommendation
When in Cyprus, I recommend you to visit Nicosia’s shopping center. You can also visit other areas of shopping in Nicosia. Even a trip to the cinema and a dinner out can turn it into a fun day. It doesn’t matter what you are there for; it’s worth a visit to check out the offerings.
