The Basic Skills are essential for all levels of proficiency and competence in wrestling. These skills are essential for coaches. You must also learn how to communicate these fundamental skills with your athletes. Coaching your wrestlers in a constant manner will ensure that they can understand you when you say that they must improve their position. They will be able to understand what you’re telling them if you tell them they must change their level of motion or make a move during a match. This basic vocabulary will allow you to elevate your program and your wrestlers to the next level.

All wrestlers need to be able to clearly understand the requirements of each skill and include these skills in their arsenal. It doesn’t matter which maneuver you are performing, one or more Basic Skills is essential for completing it successfully.
