It’s harder than golf!

As a child, we all played handball against the wall as exercise and fun. The only equipment required to play was a ball, and a wall. As long as it was not too steep, the wall can be placed anywhere. The game was fun for hours.

Years later, I was able to play handball on a proper-sized court. It was a completely different game and much more complicated geometrically than what I had learned in my childhood. The game is much faster when there are three walls or more playing surfaces than the original one.

Gloves were a necessity for me to play handball. While the pain was minimal when you executed many shots with gloves on, the discomfort was there. From all of those missed shots, I often walked out with my hands weltered from the court. It was a very macho sport and a good workout.

Racket ball, also known as racquetball or racketball is available on the same court that handball. The pain is greatly reduced by using rackets rather than one’s fingers. Although it’s not a good idea to get smacked by a fast-moving racket, that is advisable. Protective glasses are a smart idea.

It was smaller and had more lines on its walls than my regular court. It was actually a squash court, which I discovered was my friend’s. I asked him if he wanted me to give it a try. I borrowed his squash racquet from him and gave it a try. Although it was fun, I found it not as enjoyable as racquetball.

Just past the tennis stringing machines was an enormous display of rackets. There was even ping-pong equipment in this section. In a way, ping-pong could be considered a racket sport as well.

I have ‘graduated to’ ping-pong. It’s fun, easy, and everyone enjoys it. Easy to set up the table and very reasonable price for the accessories. It was a great time.
