Tips on How to Clean Golf Clubs

Every golfer knows that regularly cleaning your golf clubs is important. This will keep the golf club in good shape and you will use it for years. Now, there are several effective ways to accomplish this.

The simplest way to effectively do this is with a quality golf club cleaning kit at home. Golfers have been cleaning their equipment for years. Over time the clasps, grips, and other areas become coated with mineral deposits, oil, and grime. It is hard to remove them with just soap and water so a kit will enable you to take care of this problem easily and thoroughly.

Golfers also need to be careful about how they handle and store their clubs. If you leave your clubs in a closed garage or storage shed it is likely that insects, rain, tree sap, etc will accumulate on the shafts. This will cause damage over time and it may even cause them to break down. For best results you should always store your clubs in a dry and cool environment away from insects.

Another way to clean your clubs is to use a quality towel and polish them thoroughly. A soft towel is perfect for this job. You can start by wetting the towel and then placing the towel over the club and moving it over the entire shaft. Be sure to focus on the tips of the shafts and wipe them down gently with a damp towel.

If the dirt does not seem to come off the clubs then you will need to use a metal polish. Metal polishes are usually fairly clear and they will get the grain of the club nice and neat. You will need to start by cleaning the shaft with the metal polish. Next you will move the cloth over the entire club and apply the metal polish in steady motions.

For more stubborn stains or if you simply want to bring out the natural color of your clubs, you may want to try a combination of both cleaners. You will need to mix the cleaners to a certain degree and apply them to the club. The mixing part of the process is important. If you do not mix the cleaners you will not get an effective cleaning solution. After the cleaning procedure is complete, you will want to allow the club to dry for a few minutes and then buff it gently with a towel.
