Marketeer Company was the predecessor of Westinghouse. This brief history will allow you to understand the history and evolution of Westinghouse’s electric golf cart.

Merle Williams founded the Marketeer Company during World War II, as gas rationing was fading. For his wife, he designed and built a small electric car. After seeing his marvellous creation, others demanded more. Thus was founded the company. He developed the first electric golf vehicle. Peggy and Merle sold Marketeer in 1965 to Westinghouse.

Westinghouse built electric golf carts until 1978, when they sold it to Nordskog Industries. The 436 series is Westinghouse’s most well-known electric golf cart.

Our current economic environment is no different from that of William Merle. While gas might not have to be rationed in wartime, the cost of gasoline is rising so much that it becomes prohibitively expensive for the average person.
