Northwest golfers can find 201 public golf courses throughout Washington. Several of them have multiple courses. You’ll find some stunning landscapes if you play them all. Golf in Washington is a great way to get in some exercise.
Washington’s golfers are treated to stunning views. You can view at least one mountain snowcapped from most of Washington’s 18-hole courses. Mount St. Helens and Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams and Mount St. Helens are some of the most stunning in America. However, there are many other mountains that provide wonderful backdrops for golf.
Washington’s courses have been designed to take advantage of many of Washington’s land features. This has transformed natural beauty into hazards. The Strait of Juan de Fuca is right next to the Columbia River Gorge and the Columbia River Gorge. There are dozens of waterways and rivers nearby. It’s all waiting for your ball, just like any waterway. For golfers in this state, wet situations include streams, waterfalls, lakes and wetlands as well creeks.

Washington has many popular multi-hole courses. Redmond’s Willows Run Golf Club offers 45 hole options. There are many courses that have 36 holes in the state. You can find double 18-holes at Blaine, Bremerton and Lacey. There are three nine-hole triple courses in Burlington. They also have 9- and 18-hole courses in Kent and Tacoma.
While hundreds of courses for golf have been planned over the years, there has only been a few new ones built in Washington. While most new golf courses are located in Washington’s I-5 Corridor, Washington’s northern section was home to the majority of them. But the final course that opened was in Central Washington. Suncadia Rope Rider opened late in 2011 in Cle Elum.
The opening of the course means that Central Washington now boasts four 18-hole courses with a total length greater than 7000 yards. Eastern Washington has four more courses.
Washington green fees can vary depending on when you play, however most courses in Washington offer discounted rates for golfers during certain times of the year. Knowing when to play can help golfers save up to half off regular rates.
