How Distance is Overrated in Golf

What makes distance so important and what should you do about it?

It’s a great question. I believe that many things are affected by obsession with distance.

We are all obsessed with getting it done.

But, we can’t control the situation if it gets any further.

You also need to consider whether it is worth giving up control in order to make that extra shot.

We could go further if necessary.

You are asked to toss a ball for 15 to 20 yards and then to toss it for 30 to reach the goal. Do you need to consider how you can throw it further or just to make it go further?

All this is golfing “techno-babble”We have been confused.

People talk about, for example, lag, delayed hits, leading with your hips, spine angle and two-piece or one-piece takeaway. There are about fifteen other things.

It is difficult for an average golfer to play a good game of golf with this level of complexity.

Your body knows exactly what you should do.

It’s too complex!It’s too difficult!

Here are some reasons you should not obsess about hitting it harder:

1. Golf can be boring if you try to get the ball in a long way.

It isn’t fun to play golf because you are trying to hit the ball long.

This can lead to frustration and a lack of enjoyment in the round.

2. Slow play can be caused by trying to hit the ball too long.

It can lead to:

  • Too many balls
  • It is too easy to drive your driver around on many holes.
  • Also, you can hit more shots on the greens.

Slow play is caused by insufficient accuracy and length.

3. It can be dangerous to try and hit the ball too long.

Stress Free Golf Swing

It doesn’t matter if your driving skills are intermediate or advanced.

You shouldn’t aim to hit the ball long. Instead, move to the forward tee and hit 3-wood and 5-wood. This will keep the ball in play.

You will be more confident and have more fun.

You will get better and you’ll be able to move on to more difficult tee boxes.

Conclusion: I believe that distance is too important and can cause problems for those who play from an incorrect tee box, or beginning to intermediate players who focus on distance instead of enjoying the game.

It can frustrate to try and hit the ball further than you are capable of.

If you don’t feel like playing from farback tees boxes, then slow down play to make it more accessible for others.

If you’re just starting out, it can be a hindrance to your growth if you try too hard.

You will have fun playing this course, as it was designed by the architect.

Imagine that you are playing a hole using a combination of Black, White, Green, and Blue tee box tees.

This is the gap:

Black is located 430 feet away
The Blue is 400 meters away
Only 380 meters from White
The Green is located 330 meters away

You can drive your driver for 280 yards if you are able to hit it. If you’re playing from the black you have 150 yards to go.

If you are unable to hit your driver for 230 yards and play from the red, you’ll still have 200 yards until the green.

It’s almost as far you can go with a driver.

You would hit a 3-wood at its max, but it wouldn’t touch.

Moving up to the White Tee Box is a good idea. Hitting your driver for 230 yards will leave you with 150 yards to go to the green.

You would have more fun, and everyone would enjoy it. Also, the play pace would be better.

Have more fun by playing within your limits
