Ceramics Branches

Ceramics can be clustered in two types. These categories are known as “traditional”Oder “advanced”. The main category that houses consumer goods is known as the traditional. The traditional ceramics are used daily for everyday use, such as dishes and ovenware.

An industry can use ceramics to examine their components, such as the electrical and mechanical properties, to make the product more marketable. They are useful in steel and iron making. You can make many products using ceramics from both these areas. You can find some examples below, courtesy of The American Ceramic Society.

Ceramics’ Traditional Branch:

– Structural clay products like bricks, sewer pipes, roofing tile

You can find electrical porcelain and dinnerware here

– There are several types of glasses, such as flat or container.

Natural and synthetic Diamonds

Ceramics’ Advanced Branch:

Parts for automobiles like brakes and rotors.

– Parts and equipment for spacecraft, such as thermal insulation or satellite positioning devices

– Dental and medical optical parts

Optical components for telecommunications.

These ceramic branches really refer to the materials used to make things in our world. These branches can help you to see the potential uses of ceramics.

In Construction: Ceramics

There are many types of ceramics. It will be found in countertops, fireplaces and floors. Many new houses have ceramic floors that give off a unique stone look. It is also possible to use ceramics to enhance a room’s color by decorating around its fireplace.

Clay bricks can be used to withstand hurricanes and other natural disasters.

Aerospace Ceramics:

The military, as well as other government agencies use ceramic coatings a lot because they last for a very long time and are durable. It is known that ceramics are used in the construction of spacecrafts.

Ceramics are most commonly used in aerospace and spacecraft. They act as heat insulation and fire protectants, meaning that they won’t cause damage to the engine. Ceramics are lightweight and resistant to heat.

Ceramics also play an important role in the sports industry. They can be found in brakes for race cars and some clubs. They make a great putter with golf clubs because they are light and durable. They can be thrown or used to abuse by the average golfer and still make a good swing.

Ceramics and electronics:

Most people are aware that ceramics were used in many electronics, including radios and GPS. Ceramics are employed in a wide variety of equipment. The new PCs and laptops that are coming out will feature tiny ceramic transistors inside. This will increase their speed and make them smaller.

Medicine: Ceramics

Medical breakthroughs can be made by using ceramics. One example is TheraSpheresTM, which are tiny glass beads that have been made radioactive by a special process. They can be used to treat liver cancer. These are placed into tumors to reduce its size and cause less harm than regular chemotherapy.
