Butt Out – Play Better Golf

It’s not rude at all, but it’s certainly a little too much. Although you might think it is offensive at first, I have a very good reason.

You might be wondering why some days just aren’t good for golf. What is the difference between Saturday’s play and Sunday’s poor performance?

All amateur golfers make the same mistake: poor posture. My wife doesn’t agree that golf is an athletic game. Therefore, it’s important to have a sportmanlike posture.

Look at the top golfers touring these days, and there won’t be many people with low shoulders or chins.

The set-up is the key to a good golf swing. If you do this correctly, you will be able to play better golf.

Golf is dynamic. It is a game of moving parts. All those parts connect to each other. With that being said, how can we create dynamically?

Let’s start by standing straight with our ears aligned with our shoulders and hips. Next, let us line up our feet with the heels. You can then move your body freely from this basic position.

With your feet slightly inwardly pointing towards the ball, stand straight ahead of it with your arms extended. Your shoulders should not be wider than your feet. This gives us a stable, solid base from which to swing.

It is important that we get down to our golf balls. I grab my club, and then hold it about 45 degrees from my body. To get the ball at the proper distance, bend forward so that your knees touch the ground.

When you’re in that position, stick your head out. To bring your center point of gravity up to your arches, you should stick your rear end out.

You can keep your weight at the center of your feet, and you will be in a dynamic place. This position allows you to swing the club around and still maintain your balance. That is key to an efficient, consistent, and solid golf swing.
