Sometimes, you are struck by something that makes a lasting impression. This can not only change how you approach a specific task, but can make it possible to reevaluate other beliefs you may have.
Golf has been a passion of mine for more than 25 years. People have played it for many hundreds of years. Everything I knew about golf was known. It was wrong.
Over the past several years I have been suffering from chronic cases of the yips. I gave up after trying so many putting aids and long putters.
So I wouldn’t embarrass myself, I would simply pick up my three feet. From 10 to 20 feet away I had no trouble hitting the ball and could even hit it pretty well.
That was about a month back. A book was found online. The sales page caught my attention and I was intrigued.
His promise was to do something different and new that would work immediately. It was impossible for me to believe, and I continued my business. A week later, I found the exact same page once again.
It was the day I planned to try it, so I decided to give it another chance. Because the advertisement promised immediate results, I decided to give it a try. The book was ordered, I downloaded it, and it took me about thirty minutes to read.
Then I got out my putter and tried to hit some putts with the knowledge I’d learned. I noticed that each putt started on the line, and there was no sign of the yips. However, there wasn’t a hole in the bedroom floor.
The next day, I felt very excited. It was my first five-foot putt. The new technique was tried out on the practice course.
Ten three-footers were made in one row! But, I hadn’t yet been on the course. The practice green is a place where any fool can putt. I was eager to reach the first green.
Lucky for me, tap-ins were available on five of the first five holes. For par, the sixth hole was a straight uphill five-footer. These were my worst nightmares.
Everything was lined up and I hit the button. The start and end were right in the middle! Everything went well the rest of day. Four of the seven putts I attempted were from less than 8 feet. This makes four more putts than I would’ve made if the book hadn’t been there.
The method gets easier as I keep using it. Now, I’m looking forward to the challenge that comes with putting at shorter distances. I have had some success.
Although I don’t put like a pro tour player, I still struggle to hit the balls from 5 feet. It is a long way from being able to hold onto the ball to save my life.
You should read this book if you have similar problems in your putting. Target Putting. This is about the same price as a lesson, at $23.
It is very short. It is approximately twenty pages long. It doesn’t include any photos, but they are not necessary. Its success is a sign that the message has finally reached its destination.
Target Putting will show you that certain things about putting you thought were correct are wrong. Everybody has something to learn about putting.
