Manning’s family is among the most accomplished and respected in the history football. Each of the Manning sons and father, Archie, was a star quarterback in high school, college and finally, the NFL. It is often forgotten that Olivia Manning was not the only family member who could not boast of being a famous National Football League (NFL), quarterback. Cooper, the brother of both Eli and Peyton is also a part of this story.
Cooper Manning, like his brothers and father, will spend most of his adult life being called “the third Manning brother” behind his back. His multimillion-dollar contracts do not pay him thousands of dollars per week like his successful brothers and father. He also doesn’t enjoy the respect and popularity that comes with being a top-ranked quarterback.
Archie Manning is the patriarch of the family. Manning first rose to fame as the quarterback of the University of Mississippi, commonly known as Ole Miss, in 1969/70. Heisman Trophy, which is awarded annually to the best college football player each year, was won by Archie Manning. He went on to become a well-known and wealthy NFL quarterback and was named NFC Offensive Player and of the Year for 1978.
Archie first met Olivia when they were Ole Miss students. Archie belonged to a fraternity called Sigma Nu, while Olivia was a member of Delta Gamma. Archie was the star quarterback on the college football team, and Olivia was her homecoming queen senior year. They were married in 1974 and they had three children: Cooper, Peyton and Eli. Peyton, as well as Eli, are very well-known because of their NFL success. Both sons won Super Bowls. Eli was named Super Bowl MVP in 2008.
Cooper Manning, at 6’4″ is the forgotten brother. However, he enjoys being anonymous and is happy with it. Cooper at 6’4″ is a similar size to the other men in his immediate family as his father Archie is 6’3″Peyton, our brother is 6’5″, and brother Eli is 6’4″Cooper. Cooper played at the highest levels of football in his youth and was considered a top-notch player. Cooper, a All-State wide receiver, was an acclaimed college prospect. He had intended to play for Ole Miss (SEC), before a diagnosis of spinal stenosis ended his football career.
Cooper doesn’t envy his brother’s success as he should. Cooper, who resides in New Orleans, is the partner of Howard Weil, an energy investment company. Cooper, who was the youngest brother of Eli won the Super Bowl in February 2008. This followed the 2007 win by Peyton. New York Magazine asked Cooper if it felt strange to have the Super Bowl’s only winner. Cooper replied with a lighthearted smile, “well, there’s a lot of pressure on me next year. I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do.”
