Women have made great strides in equality over the last century. Since Women’s Suffrage, which may have been the most demeaning name for women’s equality, women are treated on an equal basis with men. In the early 20th century, most women spent their time caring for the family. As a society, we’ve moved on from those primitive times. Women now make up almost half the workforce.
The next question is whether this equality issue needs to be elevated to allow women to play in the sports that are dominated by men. These are my views on this issue.
I often feel progressive. No way in the world do I think women have a lower quality life than men. In some ways, women are more intelligent than men and have greater talent and capabilities. It is almost certain that in sports men are stronger, faster, and more powerful than women. Women find it difficult to match men’s abilities. However, this does not mean that women are excluded from sports that involve men. Not necessarily. If they are up to it, I believe that women should have the right to compete in certain sports, such as swimming, tennis, golf and track. You might be asking why women shouldn’t be allowed in sports other than swimming. This is the reason. All of the above mentioned sports can be considered individual and non-contact. The outcome of a game is less dependent on the physical ability than the skill. While physicality remains a factor in team and contact sports, it is not as significant as in individual or group games. Skill is what determines whether women can play together.
When it comes to contact sports, such as soccer, football and basketball, I don’t believe women should compete. Two things are at the heart of my reasoning. The first is that men are at an advantage when they play with women. Women are taught to respect women and be kind. The playing field is a testament to this notion. When I was in college, for example, I played intramural basketball with co-ed. When I was playing against a woman, it felt wrong to take the ball from her. Even if I took the ball from her, it was in an unnatural manner. I tried to not be too rough. That was not what I wanted to do. “jerk”Who were too physical with girls. In light of similar experiences, I believe that contact sports should be banned for women and men.
This is the second reason why I oppose women participating in contact or male-team sports. Many horror stories have come to my attention about the sexist treatment that women in male contact sports receive. This one is from 1999. Katie Hinda, a young female named Katie, was the replacement placekicker for the University of Colorado’s football team. Her time at Colorado saw her subject to harassment sexually every day, and she eventually claimed she had been raped while on the team. This is a case that speaks for itself regarding whether women should have the right to compete with men in sport.
Let me sum it all. I believe that women can be equal to men. There are too many obstacles and issues when it comes down to contact sports. Men are psychologically handicapped by society’s acceptance of gentle treatment of women. Women can also find themselves in dangerous, compromising situations. It is not wise for women to participate in male sports.
